Patricia Urquiola has crafted a landscape filled with imaginative, hybrid creatures, celebrating the playful aspects of design. Among the notable elements are lounge islands by Kettal upholstered with Kvadrat fabrics and hanging textiles from cc-tapis, featuring regenerated nylon yarn by Aquafil. Naturally, Moroso’s signature seating designs play a crucial role, introducing pieces such as Gruuvelot, Mushmonster, and Giano. These furniture items challenge conventional ideas with their organic structure and lively upholstery, contributing to a dynamic atmosphere.
Heimtextil serves as a pivotal platform for introducing innovations within the textile industry, including advancements in sustainable practices. Urquiola notes the fair as a crucial opportunity for dialogue, emphasizing the ongoing interactions it facilitates about textiles. According to her, personal exchanges at such events remain invaluable. This year’s collaboration at Heimtextil was fueled by a shared enthusiasm for creative exploration, contemporary trends, and sustainable solutions in textile design.
Moroso’s journey in design started in 1952 when Agostino Moroso and his wife Diane established the company with a vision for quality and unorthodox manufacturing processes. With the entry of the second generation of the Moroso family, the brand reached new levels of innovation and creativity. Moroso has collaborated with iconic global designers, continuously redefining furniture for new generations. Working with Urquiola and featuring her designs at the fair is another defining step in Moroso’s storied history.
Patricia Urquiola, co-founder of Studio Urquiola, brings distinct and refreshing insights to the design world. With a rich educational background in architecture and design from prestigious institutions and under the mentorship of Achille Castiglioni, Urquiola integrates his “fundamental element” principle, focusing on human-centric spatial design. Her work aims to engage both the emotive and rational aspects of human experience, reflecting her comprehensive understanding of space and design.
The “among-us” installation at Heimtextil 2025 offers a glimpse into the future of textile and furniture design. With a collaboration born from creative synergy and a shared focus on sustainable practices, both Patricia Urquiola and Moroso have highlighted their commitment to innovation and artistic expression. This initiative not only showcases cutting-edge design but also invigorates conversations around the evolving nature of textiles and their role in shaping environments.
