Innovative Italian design brand Alessi has unveiled its 2025 collection, carrying forward its tradition of converting typical household items into exceptional design masterpieces. Known for its striking designs and functional artistry, Alessi’s newest offerings sport bold forms, novel color options, and enhancements to existing lines. These creations are art pieces in their own right, capable of gracing both domestic environments and gallery installations, showcasing the brand’s commitment to artful utility and timeless design.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Designer: Michele De Lucchi
Product: Plissé Electric Kettle
Collection Year: 2025
Architect: Aldo Rossi
Reissued Designers: Enzo Mari, Giulio Confalonieri

The Plissé Electric Kettle leads the charge in Alessi’s latest collection, effortlessly combining aesthetics with functionality. An extension of Michele De Lucchi’s Plissé series, this kettle promises precise temperature control, available now in a new muted blue shade. This color complements the existing palette of white, black, and green, providing a serene update to kitchen aesthetics. Accompanying the kettle, the newly available Plissé Toaster in the same hue completes a stylish countertop set, emphasizing understated elegance.

Looking back in time, Alessi brings renewed vibrancy to two of its classic designs with fresh finishes. Enzo Mari’s Arran Tray and Giulio Confalonieri’s Maya Basket, initially conceived decades ago, are reintroduced with iridescent green and purple finishes that lend these objects a contemporary feel. Their geometric forms and crisp lines have always suggested a place in design history, and the dynamic new finishes transform them into ever-shifting art pieces, reacting to light and reflections to engage the viewer anew.

Michele De Lucchi designed the Yucatan and Oaxaca salt and pepper grinders with a nod to ancient architecture and artisanal skill. De Lucchi’s process involved distilling the grinders into simplistic, column-like forms topped with rotating heads, infusing a taste of Aztec design. These wooden totems are as much about enhancing the aesthetic of one’s kitchen as they are about precision and functionality in everyday use, celebrating craftsmanship and creativity.

Alessi’s collection also revives whimsical charm from the past with the Anna Stick and Alessandro Stick, drawing on designs from Alessandro Mendini’s archives. This set of chopsticks and accompanying stand bring playfulness and character to the dining experience. Topping the chopsticks are familiar faces from Mendini’s repertoire, while the fish-shaped stand echoes his artistic motifs. Mendini’s vision of creating objects that are both poetic and user-friendly comes to life in this vibrant reimagining.

Finally, the collection updates an iconic classic, the La Cupola espresso coffee maker by Aldo Rossi. Now compatible with modern induction hobs, this espresso maker retains its architectural form, inspired by cupolas and architectural motifs. Available with a handle and knob in black or the original blue, La Cupola continues to exemplify Rossi’s vision of household appliances as both functional items and significant design works. This homage to traditional architecture encapsulates the essence of Alessi’s innovative yet historically aware design ethos.

To explore Alessi’s 2025 collection further, enthusiasts and collectors can delve into the full range of offerings at the brand’s official platform. The collection represents a convergence of art and utility, honoring past designs while boldly stepping into the future. With each piece, Alessi reaffirms its status as a leader in the world of innovative product design, continually transforming the ordinary into extraordinary icons.
