PROJECT OVERVIEW

Anniversary: 40th of Modupoint Lighting

Reflecting on the collection’s design, the interplay of materials and lighting is central to its appeal. Modular Lighting has long been recognized for its sleek, modular lighting innovations that remain timeless even four decades later. Meanwhile, the strength and elegance of Silestone’s stone slabs are meticulously balanced upon one another, exuding a sense of weightlessness despite their inherent sturdiness. This harmonious juxtaposition presents a comforting solidity that pays homage to the ancient stone furniture, now modernized for today’s aesthetic and functional requirements.

Attention to detail and material usage is paramount, as each piece in the collection seems to defy gravity with its low height and gentle contours. The artful suspension of stone surfaces, reflecting a golden glow through polished finishes, injects warmth into any space. Justine Kegels, the visionary behind this project, aimed to create a design that transcends pure functionality, offering an artistic statement that seamlessly integrates stone and light. The use of Blanc Elysée and Château Brown from Silestone’s latest range perfectly complements the contemporary lighting elements, resulting in an elegantly cohesive collection.

The evolution of Modular Lighting’s Modupoint system is noteworthy, especially with the inclusion of the panel mount, a feature that enhances integration with materials like wood and stone. This advancement opens up new avenues for interior design, especially within the hospitality sector, where innovative material technology can significantly impact ambiance and functionality. This modular system symbolizes the future of lighting solutions, encouraging the adoption of multifunctionality in furniture design.

As Modular Lighting Instruments continues to pioneer immersive lighting solutions across various industries, their commitment to incorporating cutting-edge technology is evident. Their Belgian origins and meticulous approach make them a notable entity in residential, retail, and commercial lighting landscapes, emphasizing the blending of style with substance, pivotal in today’s design discourse. Their work aligns perfectly with Cosentino’s vision, a globally renowned family business that extends high-end surfaces into the architectural realm with Silestone as a flagship stone product.

At the heart of this collaboration is JJ Studio, founded by Justine Kegels, whose diverse background spans photography, design, and architecture. Her architectural mindset introduces a keen eye for proportion and detail within the collection, adding visual intrigue to the layered compositions that appear to lift gracefully from their frames. This collection underscores the beauty of partnerships, as Alicia Bremmers from Cosentino stresses the transformative power of working alongside designers to push boundaries in material innovation, aesthetics, and functionality.
