Eschewing conventional cooking-centric designs, Jane’s kitchen transforms into a ephemeral dance floor, complete with easily cleaned surfaces such as Neolith countertops and cabinet cladding. The addition of a staircase merging into an island allows for impromptu dance sessions, enhanced by a spotlight synchronized with disco balls. For Jane, and her musically inclined family, this lively space reinforces the principle that entertainment and enjoyment are integral to meal times.
Adjacent to the kitchen, the living room offers versatility, serving as both a relaxation hub and a game room. With furniture that is both comfortable and mobile, this space easily adapts to accommodate gatherings for family and friends alike. Jane selected lightweight chairs that facilitate spontaneous reconfigurations, highlighting her focus on fostering conviviality and spontaneous interactions. Amidst all, a nook is perfect for playing board games, catering to both adults seeking downtime and the younger ones eager for play.
Furthering this essence of retreat and enjoyment, a guest room exudes serenity with its design. Jane drew inspiration from tropical destinations, crafting a bedroom ambience akin to an island escape through imaginative wide-panel wallpaper. The accompanying guest bathroom complements this tranquil ethos with an intriguing twist: a Moroccan fountain. This unique element not only enhances the aesthetic but also adds an auditory layer of privacy for guests, a thoughtful nod to everyday insecurities.
In crafting spaces tailored for her children, Jane’s ingenuity shines. The playroom defies rainy day boredom with a rock-climbing wall that leads to an aerial rope lounge from Treenet Collective. Creative expression extends to a painted boy’s room requested by her son Kingsley, whose love for graffiti finds respectful expression through the artwork of Ruben Rojas, who imbues the walls with intentional messages of love. Such thoughtful designs reflect Jane’s commitment to balancing her children’s creativity with a harmonious home environment.
Atop the house, the rooftop deck embraces its surroundings with ocean views and facilities designed for lively gatherings.
