Madison Square Garden, famous for its world-class performances, recently unveiled a captivating transformation not on stage but in a room—a private hospitality suite. This space, known as The Benjamin Moore Boardroom, debuted in October 2024 as part of an ongoing partnership with the Rangers. Thanks to the inventive touch of designer Sasha Bikoff, the room has metamorphosed into a gleaming jewel box of color and sophistication, emblematic of New York City’s iconic entertainment venue.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
Designer: Sasha Bikoff
Location: Madison Square Garden, New York City
Paint Brand: Benjamin Moore
Lighting Partner: Chrome Fixtures
Material Partner: Cosentino
Sasha Bikoff, a New Yorker through and through, felt destined to design this unique space, drawing from her rich tapestry of personal experiences at the Garden—from childhood outings to unforgettable concerts. Her emotional connection to Madison Square Garden inspired her to create more than a simple room; she sought to weave a narrative of celebration and elegance. Central to her design philosophy was the color red, a nod to both the paint brand and the Rangers, symbolizing festivities and cohesion.

To realize her vision, Bikoff employed a technique known as “color drenching,” where surfaces are enveloped in layers of rich hues. The ceiling features Classic Burgundy in an ultra-flat finish, bringing an intense depth to the atmosphere. The walls echo this richness with a Raspberry Truffle high-gloss finish that gleams under curated lighting. Accentuating the room are Neon Red millwork and railings, an electrifying touch that unites the design elements. Bikoff describes the experience as entering a “jewel box,” where color envelops the senses without interruption from patterns, creating a vibrant, cohesive environment.

Beyond color, the transformation included custom millwork and luxurious materials. Bikoff collaborated with Cosentino to craft countertops and tabletops in a luxurious chocolate brown with intricate gold and white veining. This choice subtly complements the red hues, enhancing their warmth without clashing. Lighting played a pivotal role in the room’s metamorphosis, with chrome fixtures adding sparkle and strategically placed glow and cove lighting making the reds shimmer vividly, much like the cityscape outside.

The project reflects Sasha Bikoff’s signature design approach—bold, yet elegantly orchestrated, playful with a sophisticated edge, mirroring her persona and affection for New York City. Her artistic endeavor aimed to capture the city’s vibrancy within the confines of a single room, delivering a space that resonates with life and energy, akin to the bustling metropolis itself. Through her attention to detail and passion for storytelling, Bikoff’s work transcends conventional interior design, crafting an environment that feels as alive as its storied surroundings.

In essence, The Benjamin Moore Boardroom at Madison Square Garden is both a tribute to and a reflection of New York City’s dynamism. With its dramatic use of color and thoughtful design elements, it captures the essence of the city’s cultural heartbeat. Sasha Bikoff has not only designed a room; she has encapsulated the spirit of New York, offering a space that invites guests to become part of the city’s ever-evolving narrative. Her project stands as a testament to the power of design to evoke emotion, celebrate heritage, and inspire connection.
