Renowned as a Parisian institution, the Hôtel Bischoffsheim was given a new life by Philippe Starck in 2003, transforming the space into a glimmering realm of glass and mirrors. Originally built in 1895, the mansion has always been a hub of artistic activity, hosting luminaries such as Coco Chanel and Man Ray. Starck’s previous renovation worked in harmony with the building’s classical Louis XIV architecture, infusing a modern vibrancy that echoed its storied past while introducing contemporary elements.

In its latest iteration, Baccarat has chosen an orchestral approach to design, inviting an impressive array of artists and designers to collaborate. Each space within the mansion tells a story, from the minimalist engravings of Harry Nuriev to the stained glass work by Pierre Tatin, and the neo-industrial shop design by Philippe Nigro, nodding to the brand’s crystal manufacturing heritage. This varied design celebrates diverse artistic expressions while maintaining a cohesive vision of modernity and tradition.

The Ducasse Baccarat restaurant, designed by Aliénor Bechu, immerses guests in a setting where time stands still. Its Grand Siècle decor harmonizes with a contemporary aesthetic through elements like oak shelves with primitive silhouettes, all underneath a ceiling adorned with crystal droplets and cloud motifs. The sensuality of the space is further amplified by the furniture’s tactile luxury, offering an indulgent dining experience enhanced by the culinary genius of Alain Ducasse and his team.

Adjacent to this culinary haven, the Midi-Minuit bar showcases the stylistic influences of Jean-Michel Frank. Restored ivory parchment walls and leopard print accents set the scene for innovative cocktails by Margot Lecarpentier. Served in eclectic Baccarat glassware, the cocktails provide a delightful experience, immersing visitors in the elegant vibrancy reminiscent of the Art Deco era. Throughout Maison Baccarat, one can explore the luxurious artifacts and breathe life into every corner, creating an atmosphere of exploration and enjoyment.

Looking towards the future, Baccarat plans to expand its offerings with outdoor spaces designed by Jérémie Attali, promising further enchantment in spring 2025 with a garden bar. Guests can anticipate a dynamic program of arts, literature, and performances, ensuring a vibrant cultural calendar. As the mansion continues to evolve, its passionate red spirit thrives, perpetually enhancing its allure and inviting a new era of elegance and creativity in the heart of Paris.
